Southeast Georgia’s dense Southern Yellow Pine forest was ideal for harvesting small timber for fence posts.

James Stovall III bought B&M from Fred and Roy in 1974 it had $400,000 in annual sales and 8 employees. In 1978, B&M added another retort using CCA wood-preserving chemicals and a debarker to boost production by 50%.
